LEARNING COMET,INC
I am the CEO ,owner and Founder of Learning Comet and serve as an Independent Facilitator (Vendor #PY4433), Educational Therapist, Special Education Advocate, and Neurodiverse Career Coach. I hold multiple Master’s degrees in Organizational Learning & Instructional Technologies from the University of New Mexico, Special Education, and General Education. I also completed specialized certification training in Special Education Advocacy through the University of San Diego School of Law.
My interest and knowledge in the developmental disability field evolved through both my professional experience and my direct work with neurodivergent individuals and their families over the past 15+ years. As a former Special Education Teacher, IEP Coordinator, and Inclusion Advocate within Albuquerque Public Schools, I worked closely with students with autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, and diverse learning disabilities while leading IEP meetings, coordinating multidisciplinary services, and supporting inclusive educational practices.
My professional experience as an instructor and supervisor in group homes and day programs supporting adolescents and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has strengthened my expertise as an Independent Facilitator by giving me firsthand knowledge of person-centered care, behavioral supports, life skills development, and community integration. This direct experience allows me to better understand the real-world needs of individuals and families, advocate effectively for appropriate services, and help clients build meaningful supports that promote independence, inclusion, and long-term success., These experiences gave me firsthand insight into the challenges families face when navigating educational and community-based support systems.
After relocating to California, I further expanded my expertise by completing specialized training in Special Education Advocacy through the University of San Diego School of Law and recently also became a Certified Independent Facilitator supporting Regional Center clients and the Self-Determination Program (SDP).
Through my work at Learning COMET, I now help individuals and families develop person-centered plans, access appropriate services and supports, understand Regional Center systems, advocate effectively, and build long-term independence and quality of life.
